Overview

Mended Earth is a sustainability initiative focused on reusing and redistributing materials. I worked directly with the client to research their needs, design a new website, and build a Shopify platform to support their growing inventory and community.

The Challenge

The organization needed a way to manage a large inventory of reusable materials and make them accessible online. Their existing system relied on spreadsheets and manual coordination, which made it difficult to scale and maintain.

What I Did

I led stakeholder interviews, developed research plans, and conducted competitor analysis to better understand the client’s goals and user needs.

Using these insights, I created website mockups and organized usability testing to refine the design. I iterated based on feedback to improve clarity and usability.

I also helped curate site content, manage inventory, and build the Shopify website, which included over 400 products.

Outcome

The final result was a fully functional Shopify website that made materials easier to browse, access, and manage.

I also implemented promotional strategies and provided training so the client could maintain and update the site independently.

Reflection

This project strengthened my ability to work directly with clients, conduct research, and deliver a complete UX solution from planning through implementation.

It also showed how thoughtful UX design can support sustainability and community access.
